Nexell started the year 2020 with a great idea, the “Reverse New Year Calendar” campaign to support organizations who help people in need.

Our NexellAngels started their philanthropic work with the delivery of self-collected goods to local associations who help thousands of people in need, on a daily basis. 

In January 2020 our team of NexellAngels in our Geneva office collected several boxes of products and food for babies and provided them to the local Partage, la banque alimentaire genevoise. Partage is an association whose social commitment is to perceive the zero waste goal by reducing food waste and redistributing products that have expired and would be disposed. Currently 99 partners in the region supply Partage at 189 collection points where from it is distributed to charities and social services. Partage serves 54 associations and, on average 11’613 people per week benefit from their collection. 

“Recycling Food Surpluses” is another fantastic initiative which is built around the transformation of Partage’s activities, in particular with the development of projects related to the valorisation of foodstuffs, and the processing of fresh products resulting from overproduction.
 Our reverse new calendar initiative was continued in February 2020 by the NexellAngels team in our office in Brugg. A wide range of goods, durable food as well as hygiene products was collated every day of the month and after the month’s end handed over to Tischlein Deck Dich in Brugg. 

Tischlein Deck Dich thankfully accepts food and hygiene products that would otherwise be thrown away by retail or wholesale distributors but they as well appreciate donations from other companies or individuals and distribute them directly to people affected by poverty. Nationally, Tischlein Deck Dich helps 20’000 people in need who receive ration cards by the social services department. The distribution is handled via 132 distribution points and is individually related to the size of a household and the food and goods available. 

The fulfillment of this valuable social mission is only feasible with the engagement of over 3’000 volunteers who do an amazing job.

We look forward to continuing our reverse new year calendar campaign during the coming months, after we have all weathered these special times of corona (COVID-19). In June, our NexellAngels in our Bern office will be doing a great job to gather many goods to be donated to another local association after the calendar month has ended.
